NJSLA Scholarship Available for WSIA Executive Leadership Summit

The Surplus Lines Association of New Jersey (NJSLA) has been given three scholarship award opportunities for three different programs. The first scholarship being offered is for the WSIA Executive Leadership Summit to be held May 1-4, 2018 in Washington, DC, at the Darden School of Business Executive Education Center in Arlington, Virginia. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition, hotel accommodations, and meals during the program, as well as a $400 airfare stipend (a $2900 value).
Executive Leadership Summit Scholarship

The Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association’s (WSIA- formerly NAPSLO and AAMGA) four-day Executive Leadership Summit offers pivotal leadership training for any senior level Excess and Surplus Professional. The applicant should have considerable wholesale and specialty experience and be responsible for obtaining superior and sustainable results. Combining industry knowledge and world-class leadership training from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, this program prepares participants for their current and future leadership positions by immersing them in a real-life case study approach designed to develop the capacity to think, act and lead more strategically. Participants will bring back the tools to lead for success and strengthen their value to their organization. The program also features keynote conversation with an industry leader.

Applicants and/or their employer must be an NJSLA member and a strong preference will be given to WSIA members. The deadline for the scholarship application is March 25, 2018.

NJSLA Scholarship Available for Excess and Surplus Lines Education Program
A second scholarship opportunity is available for a NJSLA member employee. This scholarship is for the WSIA Excess & Surplus Lines Education Program to be held in St. Louis, MO during June 3-6, 2018.
The scholarship includes tuition, hotel accommodations at The Parkway Hotel, in St. Louis, MO., meals during the program and a travel stipend of $400 (total value of $1600). Applications must be received by April 23, 2018.

E&S Lines Education Program
June 3-6, 2018
St. Louis, MO
WSIA’s 3-day Excess and Surplus (E&S) Lines Program, to be held at the Washington University Medical Center, offers participants the opportunity to gain a solid understanding of how excess and surplus lines insurance works in the marketplace. E&S participants will analyze and discuss real world issues and leave with a foundational understanding of the dynamics and relationships between surplus lines brokers and carriers.
Surplus lines industry professionals will be the primary instructors, while attendees will participate in a variety self-directed learning settings such as study groups, panels and informal networking sessions. The school’s curriculum is reviewed annually to keep pace with emerging technology and the changing nature of the industry.
